We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.Virgin of Candelaria, Saint Patron of the Canary Islands. The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period. You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.

On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you. Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible.

It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. I did enjoy being taken to lunch at a popular local spot for some tasty ajiaco, that was nice. The first section explaining how gold was mined and worked by these cultures was cool though. Even most of the collection in the vault was kind of meh. The Gold Museum was underwhelming, very repetitive with the same displays essentially being put up in a dozen or so rooms under the names of different ingenious tribes. I'd recommend trying to find specific historical figures and stories to tell while walking through to make it more interesting similar to the tale of Bolivar being led out of his window by his mistress to avoid assassination-more of those. The neighborhood itself lacks the requisite richness in history and detail to be interesting on its own. I did like when we stopped for a minute in a small local bar popular among students to try some chicha, which was tasty. La Candelaria was a bit underwhelming, this historic area has been allowed to fall into terrible condition, but fortunately it looks like it's being restored now. Monserrate was nice, fantastic views of the city, lots of beautiful flowers up top. I'm sorry you felt you didn't get your money's worth for the tour but comparing it with a street food tour is not a fair comparison. Trust me we can't lower our price and keep the same quality, and we prefer to offer quality and a personalized experience as the one you had (you had a private tour). And finally, if you want a knowledgeable and patient guide as the one you had, we have to pay them a fair amount for their service and this is the most expensive cost in our tour. Third, a historic tour is usually 6 hours long and a food tour is about 3 hours long, so at the historic tour we have to pay more for guiding time.

Second, the cost of the food you get at a street food tour is not even the price we pay for 1 entrance to the sites, as street food is super cheap.

First of all we include hotel pick up and drop off, so having the guide pick you up in a nice car with a properly dressed driver costs more than taking a taxi to a meeting point.

Hi Crystal, I already explained to you the difference between the cost of a street food tour and a historic tour.
